Maternity Style

May 29, 2014

Hi all,

I am really thrilled to say that I am 22 weeks pregnant with my first baby! Shopping with my bump has been such a new experience for me. I had been dying for the bump to appear, so that I could embrace the maternity wear.

As it's my first, it wasn't really until week 19 that I had to change from my regular clothes. I was a little bit nervous about shopping for maternity clothes, as I had heard that the selection was poor, outdated, conservative and expensive. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I started to do my own research.

Firstly, I went through my own wardrobe to see what would work with my new shape and I found that I had two long sleeve jersey dresses from Topshop and a few other pieces that I could work into my new wardrobe. I then came across a great website called Beautiful Bumps and found some great staple pieces to invest in, including the orange and cream striped top that I'm wearing. I have a feeling it's going to be my go-to piece as it can be dressed up or down.  I also used this website to get some leggings and plain coloured tops that I look forward to using in other posts. I have my eye on a few dresses and coloured jeans that I hope to work into my wardrobe in the latter stages.  As I didn't want to invest too much in this short term wardrobe I also took a trip to H& M to buy a few other pieces. I couldn't believe the value and was surprised by the on trend selection. The quality in some of the garments wasn't the best but I guess you get what you pay for!

I am a big believer in having a capsule wardrobe, so I am definitely going to stick to that strategy for my maternity wear. I am also going to try to incorpate as much of my own style into the looks, but I have already found in reality I had to embrace certain cuts and fabrics to suit my new curves.

I look forward to getting my holidays from GTI tomorrow so I can have more time to spend on my blog. If there are any particular blog posts you would like me to do, please feel free to contact me.

We got the most beautiful wedding dress today @vintagepearlbridal . We tried two amazing dresses from DoneDeal and a number of traditional bridal shops, but had no luck. I personally loved the dresses @vintagepearlbridal .If you are looking for something very simple, or even a little bit alternative it’s well worth a visit.I would love to know where you got your dress and what style it is? I’m creating a database of places to go!
Ya, I basically rewear the same clothes all the time! Great day in Dublin. I did a wardrobe with a lady who had the most amazing closet with pieces that were almost 30 years old. I think the purpose of my trip was to help convince her to throw them out but instead we restyled and updated some classic pieces that definitely stood the test of time #30wears . I then met a client that was basically my style twin for 3 hours of shopping bliss. I finished the day off by meeting an old school friend @shazmoirl for a great catch up and g@t before I literally legged it for the bus home. 🍸🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️
White bed linen and a Foxford blanket = my kind of bed! 👌#stylinglocation #xpose #conradhoteldublin #throwback To say every piece of clothes in this picture passed the #30wearschallenge is an understatement! I’m dying to ditch the winter wardrobe and start wearing lighter clothes, I’m currently working on my Spring Summer wardrobe essentials.
