10 Outfits I wore in New York

10 Outfits I wore in New York.

How to dress in New York | Irish Personal Stylist

We had an absolute blast in New York for 3 weeks! We stayed with my brother Kevin and his wife Clare on the Upper West Side. We had initially planned on organising a home exchange as we have done this several times in the past, but thanks to the generous hospitality of Kevin and Clare we decided to hang with them instead! It goes without saying, we obviously all get on famously and they adore Bobby, so it worked out really well.

So, on to the most important business - fashion! When packing for this trip we did surprisingly well and checked in 1 bag each. My bag was 16kg, the limit was 23kg, so I thought that was good going! It also gave me a bit of leeway for shopping while I was there. I packed a mixture of casual and dressy, knowing that New York can be very casual. I only brought two pairs of heels (both worn once!!!) and my white leather converse (essential in NY!) I brought 3 dressy outfits with me, which were probably too dressy but I restyled them and dressed them down. A lot of my pieces at the moment are from Maje. I really loved this season. I waited for the sales to purchase most of them. I think they are all very versatile pieces so I got lots of wear out of them. I also packed my relativity new denim  shirt dress from RiverIsland (very similar one in Topshop now) and my blue cotton shirt dress from H&M. I love these as they are so easy to throw on. When wearing the denim shirt dress my picture was randomly snapped by a photographer for Vogue Australia online street style, which was very flattering!

Overall, I think what worked for me fashion wise was packing light, versatile pieces that were multi functional. I put most of the looks together before I left, so that I wasn't wasting baggage space or time in the morning deciding what to wear.

In my next blog post, I will tell you all about what I bought on my trip!

I hope you enjoyed this post!
